01012013 / Conquering Chaos

January 1, 2013:

This will be my year to try to conquer chaos.  I want to get a dayplanner and really use it.  I want to keep lists,, and charts and scrapbooks so my children will remember their childhoods even after they start to forget them.  I want to become more organized.  I want to start a "Wish (What I Should Have) List", and start checking things off it.  I want my children to do the same.  I want to arrive early, or at the very least, on-time...I want to assign chores and make my children accountable for completing them.  I want to set and achieve reasonable goals for myself and try to teach my children to do likewise.  I want to set up a budget and stick with it.  I want to share this process with my children so that they can begin to understand the value of a dollar and learn how to be fiscally responsible.  I want to start a family tradition.  I want to spend more quality 1 on 1 time with each of my children and encourage their relationships with each other.  I want to see them be happy, excited and even sometimes sad for each other.  I want to see empathy come from my children towards one another and all others...Then, somehow, I feel, all will be right with the world..How's that for starters???

My Haircut: November 8, 2102

Today I got a haircut.

Phase 1 in taking back my life.  I wanted to feel pretty, I wanted to feel pampered.  I wanted to take care of me.  So I made a makeover consult with a great friend.  This was perhaps impulsive or perhaps not so impulsive, but the results of many years of suppression.  In either case, the results are the same...I LOVE it!  When I asked her how much I owed her, she refused.  She told me that I deserved it, and what's more, she convinced me that I did.  Thank you Jen!

First she cut off my ponytail.

Then she colored my hair.

After having the solutions rinsed out of my hair (during which time there were a couple of moments of downright anticipatory panic, like when I held the almost white strands of my hair in my hand and wondered..."What was I thinking???"  Or the first time that I touched the length of it at the nape of my neck.) she proceeded to cut, blow dry, and straighten my hair.  Here is the end result.

I totally Love it!
